New Orleans “NOLA’s Resilience” is making an impact on the Big Easy on National level

Charmaine Neville remembers Katrina

New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) August 16, 2010

Nola’s Resilience was unveiled last Wednesday, at the JW Marriott New Orleans by Evelyn Pizani and Charmaine Neville.

By popular demand the artwork has been extended to display for another week until September 7th, 2010 at the JW Marriott New Orleans in the Lobby Lounge at 614 Canal St.

Wednesday’s Jazz Funeral / Second line was well received by the city and its residents to put to rest a horrible day in August of 2005 and to celebrate the rebirth of a people and their city. Artist Stephan Wanger, a German immigrant who has adopted New Orleans as his home town, is auctioning off a Mosaic of Mardi Gras beads – so fitting for this city – for $ 1,000,000 all being donated to New Orleans charitable foundations.

In his mosaic NOLA is walking home from a classic New Orleans cemetery. Over her right shoulder is the grave with the date of Hurricane Katrina 8/29/2005 inscribed…over her left shoulder is the grave with the date of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill 4/20/2010 inscribed…. NOLA has been ravished, tested but is not broken: She is mourning but still shows strengths and leadership…she will not be denied her happiness.

The veil is made out of a honeycomb to indicate the sweetness and work ethics of Louisianans overcoming the two largest disasters in US History. The veil has a missing Fleur-de-Lys (right side of mouth), like a missing men formation executed by airplanes to honor those that have not returned “home”.

The following foundations – which have been truly key in NOLA’s Resilience will be the beneficiaries of the $ 1,000,000 that the artist is hoping to raise.

Tipitina’s Foundation, Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, Make It Right NOLA, Sweet Home New Orleans, New Orleans Musician’s Clinic, Working Bikes Coop and the Children’s Miracle Network or Children Hospital of New Orleans.
