New Orleans Saints
Ok so here we are in the playoffs. There were those who did not think this would happen based on play early in the season, injuries and the difficulty of defending a Super Bowl Championship. Having said all of that the New Orleans Saints are in the playoffs and travel to play the Seattle Seahawks in the opening round of the playoffs.
So now the question is can the New Orleans Saints FINALLY win a road playoff game? I guess the Super Bowl does not count but I digress. Last year the question was “How can the New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl after losing the final three games of the season? No one has ever done that!” So much for that rumor being a valid fact!
So what will it take for the New Orleans Saints to beat the Seahawks in their house? Protecting the ball and forcing turnovers by the Seahawks would be the first thing that comes to mind. This will help neutralize the crowd and its famous ability to cause false starts. It will also rattle a team that is coming into the playoffs with a losing record. In their prior road playoff loses, the New Orleans Saints lost the turnover battle. Staying on the positive side of turnovers will be important.
On offense, having the ability to run the ball is important. Even though the New Orleans Saints will be able to take advantage of the Seahawks pass defense, ball control will help take the crowd out of the game. Running the ball at least 30 time will wear the Seahawks down and soften them up so that the high powered New Orleans Saints passing game can put the stake in the heart of the Seahawks.
When the defense is on the field, the New Orleans Saints should be at an advantage. There is a very good chance that Whitehurst will be starting for the Seahawks. This will allow the New Orleans Saints defense to have a huge advantage. He tends to want to run the ball when his receivers are covered. That means if the New Orleans Saints defense can contain Whitehurst, they will be able to shut the Seahawks down.
This is a game the New Orleans Saints should win. The Seahawks defense is not going to be able to contain the New Orleans Saints offense. The Seattle offense is not going to be about to solve the aggressive play of the New Orleans Saints defense. Prediction New Orleans Saints 41 Seahawks 17.
