25th Annual Gretna Heritage Festival

Time to Groove in Gretna!

Ready for some Festival fun?

After a very hot and humid NOLA summer this slight hint of fall in the air has got everyone thinking of outdoor activities again. Luckily for us there is a beautiful weekend coming up and plenty of fun options to choose from in and around the Big Easy. I’m ready, how about you?

One such option is taking place right across the Mississippi River from New Orleans proper in downtown Gretna. It’s just a quick trip on the ferry or over the bridge to the west bank. The Gretna Heritage Festival encompasses 25 blocks surrounding Huey P. Long Avenue and Sixth Street all the way to the riverfront of the Mississippi River. There are four live music stages, including stages in both the Italian and Latino Villages. You can enjoy rides, a food court, games, a car show, the art market and so much more. There is literally something for everyone.

The Gretna Heritage Festival turns 25 this year and every year gets bigger and better. You don’t want to miss this one. The Festival takes place September 27-29, 2019. Times are as follows: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm Friday, 1:30 pm – 12:30 am Saturday, 11:30 am – 7:00 pm Sunday. Musical headliners are Rick Springfield, KC and the Sunshine Band and Irma Thomas. The Fest will also show off a new Latino Village, and a German Beer Garden. Of course there will be tailgating as well. Can I get a “Who Dat!”?

Other musical acts for the 25th Annual Gretna Heritage Festival include Amanda Shaw and the Foundation of Funk with Zigaboo Modeliste, George Porter Jr. and Ian Neville.  Alexey Marti, Vivaz and Mariachi Jalisco will be on the Latin Stage Friday. Saturday is the day for Rick Springfield, KC and the Sunshine Band, The Wallflowers, Better Than Ezra, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and lots more.  You can catch Jose’ Feliciano and the Iguanas on the Latino Village stage on Sunday, or The Lost Bayou Ramblers perform an early set in the Italian Village. Sunday also brings us Mickey Thomas and Starship, Zebra, Cowboy Mouth and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. What a great lineup! They had me at Rick!

Single day tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Weekend passes are $60 in advance and two day passes (Saturday/Sunday) are $40 in advance. See website link below for official info.

Put the 25th Annual Gretna Fest on your calendar, if it is not there already!

See you in NOLA!
