Elvis Costello’s musical curiosity has not diminished over his three decade career as a singer and songwriter. He songs run freely through different musical styles, from steely rock to lyrical and ambitious pop, from big band melodies to symphonic music, with forays into country, folk, soul, reggae, jazz and even opera. Over the years Costello has received, among many other awards, a Grammy in 1998 for his “I Still Have that Other Girl” and an Oscar Nomination alongside T Bone Burnett in 2004 for “Scarlet Tide” (Cold Mountain).
The great pianist, composer, arranger, singer and producer Allen Toussaint is a living legend in New Orleans and a frequent collaborator with Costello in his musical endeavours.
Costello is now performing with the New Orleans based wind section The Crescent City and Steve Nieve on keyboards, who was one of the original members of The Attractions and who has been one of Costello’s most faithful accompanists and the person behind some of Costello’s musical arrangements.
