    Loews!
It is amazing, and if everyone chips in for the bill, cost won’t be an issue. It is fairly expensive otherwise.
Here is the site http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Hotels/New-Orleans-Hotel/Overview.aspx. It is also not that far away from bourbon.

There are scores of hotels inside the French Quarter. All of them are OK and you tend to get what you pay for. You can search via sites like Expedia & Orbitz and check the hotel websites once you narrow your choices. Many of them will have reviews on: http://www.tripadvisor.com/

There are only four hotels actually on Bourbon Street, and of those only two have balcony rooms overlooking the street:

The Inn on Bourbon (a Ramada hotel)

    The Royal Sonesta

Note that balcony rooms are great for partying but not so great for sleeping (noise from the street).

Two other "old New Orleans" hotels in the FQ are the Omni Royal Orleans (which has a rooftop pool) and the Monteleone (which has the Carousel Bar)

Realize the French Quarter is a neigbhborhood and there is a lot more to it than Bourbon Street:

Hope you have a great time!

Stay at loews New Orleans. It is really nice and we stayed there one night for a wedding. The Reception was there. Also, If you want to stay on bourbon st. Stay at the Inn on Bourbon or Royal Sonesta. I prefer Royal Sonesta.
