Yup, you can walk around on the street, and can still enter SOME bars at 18. They’ll just stamp your hand as underage….

In New Orleans, you can pretty much drink anywhere, regardless of age. many bars ask for ID, but there are usually other doors you can just walk in. There are so many people there during Mardi Gras that there is no way they could ID everyone.

you can walk around basically if you are any age…some bars might not let you in, but they usually let girls in anywhere.

The police do barricade the center of the French Quarter for the last weekend of the Carnival season, but the barricades are to make it a pedestrian-only zone. Bourbon Street is a public street and you will be able to walk around no problems. The other answers are correct and you will be able to legally go into many bars at age 18 – they just can’t sell alcoholic beverages to you.

No. It is open and you can walk around. Cabs are cheap in New Orleans. If you don’t want to be the designated driver. Call United 504-522-9771

Bars are 21 to enter but some let girls 18 and older in. Razoo’s in one of them.

No they do not and some bars will let you in as well because I took my 16 year old to Bourbon street during the day since we were in the French Quarter and we went into a daiquiri shop to use the restroom and no one even blinked an eye. She does look 18 though.

THIS TURNED OUT TO BE A LONG ANSWER. BE SURE YOU SCROLL DOWN TO "WONDERFUL MARDI GRAS"

ABSOLUTELY! If you are on the West Bank of New Orleans there are 2 free ferries – in Gretna and Algiers – both landing at Canal Street. LOTS EASIER TO PARK HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE ROOM NEAR FRENCH QTR. IF NOT, THERE ARE LOTS TO PARK IN. IF TRYING TO PARK ON STREETS BE SURE YOU READ SIGNS IN FRONT AND BEHIND YOU TO BE SURE YOU ARE IN PARKABLE ZONE. THEY ARE BAD FOR TOWING CARS! (WE ALL THINK THE CHANGE SIGNS AFTER YOU PARK!!!

Yes, police baracade Bourbon off to crossing street traffic and make Bourbon a predestrial mall. IT IS WILD, YOU WILL SEE SIGHTS YOU WOULD NEVER HAVE BELIEVED! Remember, ladies lifting up shirts to expose your top is illegal and the police watch it very carefully. Don’t look like a tourist…keep things in pockets and carry your cameras.
Remember to use bathrooms wherever you purchase beer/eat. Owners will not let you use restrooms if you just walk in from street.

be sure to see Johnny Whites Sport Bar, Laffite Blacksmith bar, St.
Louis Catheral, and Cafe du Mon,

Souviners are cheaper buying off Bourbon St and are usually the exact same things. Walk down Decatur Street away from Canal Street to French Market. Tons of Deals!!!

Food is wonderful – Maspero’s on Decatur and Charters/Royal have great sandwiches, etc. The Alpine on Charters/Wilkrow (one block to left if you are facing Catheral. Decent prices/courtyard/bathroom. Be sure to go to Pat O’brians – nice courtyard and neat upstairs ladies room. Most restraunts have menu posted on doors so you will have a good idea what prices are like.

Police on horseback. Do not get silly and try to mess with horses.
Police have low tolerance to that and lifting of shirts and using bathroom on street. You will go straight to jail. Ignorance is not bliss at Mardi Gras.

Some bars offer French Quarter map. Tropical Isle on Bourbon has one for sure. We also have Hard Rock Cafe on Decatur.

Monday is LundiGras. Lots of free bands located thru out French
    Quarter.

Hope this has been helpful. HAVE A SAFE AND WONDERFUL MARDI GRAS….

Yes, and I’m pretty sure you can drink there too. It’s been 11 years since I was 18, but you can beer and hurricanes from beer vendors right on Bourbon. I don’t think they check IDs. Some places int he french quarter will let you in at 18 but won’t serve you drinks. But your friends can get drinks for you.
