Good Morning NOLA! It’s cold and it’s wet! Yuck! I bet you didn’t need me to tell you that. The rain is here for the next couple of days and as cold as it is there is a chance for sleet and even possible snow. This is not the kind of weather you want to be out and about in. Personally my plans revolve around my bed and my couch for the next few days. The highs are barely getting out of the thirties if that. Our lows are staying in the thirties over night. Don’t forget to take care of the pipes, the pets and your peeps. It is cold out there. For you northern transplants out there it might be a joke to you but this is serious weather for us. We are not used to frozen rain or snowballs, unless it’s the kind you get from the snowball stand in the sweltering summer. Today is alsomy brother’s birthday. Happy Birthday Bill! Have a great day whatever your plans are and I’ll see you in NOLA! …. after it warms up .

New Orleans Saints Off Season Update Wide Receivers
New Orleans Saints
When you look at the stats for the New Orleans Saints offense you think WOW they must have some league leading receivers. Not really. Marques Colston was 15th in the league in receiving yards with 1,023 in the regular season for the New Orleans Saints. The next receiver to show up on the list for the New Orleans Saints is Lance Moore at number 38 with 763 yards. This says a lot when the 3rd ranked offense in passing only has 1 receiver in the top 15 and no one else in the top 35. Drew Brees does a great job of spreading the ball around to his receivers.
So that begs the question “Do the New Orleans Saints NEED to do anything about a wide receiver”?
The simple answer is probably not. Lance Moore will be a free agent at the end of the season. Lance has already tried the free agency route. He will test the waters but last time he went through this exercise he ended up right back where he started. Still if the New Orleans Saints lose Moore it is not a huge loss. Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson are under contract and can easily fill Moore’s shoes. This is a fairly deep draft at the wide receiver position so the New Orleans Saints could pick up a mid round project. When you look at the type of wide receiver that works well with the New Orleans Saints it is someone who is not selfish, works hard and is aware that if you run your route correctly you have a good chance to get the ball if you are open.
The New Orleans Saint will likely make an effort to resign Marques Colston to a long term deal prior to the end of the 2012 season. This will lock in their most consistent wide receiver and set the tone for rewarding the type of wide receiver the New Orleans Saints are looking for.
Next we will take a look at the Tight End position for the New Orleans Saints in the 2011 draft and off season picture.

Good Morning NOLA! Is it cold enough for you? Just wait. I am not in the least bit jealous of my movies buddies who are booked to work to the rest of this week. I am perfectly happy to stay close to home for a few days. It is VERY windy today. If you are out and about in the CBD, you know it is even worse when it comes roaring between the buildings. The low today is mid forties with a drop back in the thirties tonight. Just a minimal rain chance today but tomorrow we are looking at a seventy percent chance and it won’t get out of thirties. I think I will find something to do at home. Friday is not much better with a ninty percent chance of rain and highs only in the low forties. The weekend will be clear but still chilly out there. The ground hog might have said early spring but it is not here yet. Have a great day and I’ll see you in NOLA!

A Pop Up Tent Works When Things Pop Up
Pop Up Tent
As a new author I have to do what I can to market my books. I have recently started the taking my children’s books and matted prints to various markets for book signings. While some markets are indoors, most of them or not so I decided a must have item for me is a pop up tent. A Pop Up tent works perfectly to provide shade or keep me and my books out of the weather. Can I tell you I love my Pop Up Tent. Ace Canopy also provides canopy tents. This is another perfect solution for me as my son has recently started driving and our garage has no room for his car. So canopy tent here I come.
This is a paid post the opinions expressed about pop up tent are those of the author.

Good Morning NOLA! I really hope you are ready for some more rain. It is coming whether you are or not. We have a one hundred percent chance of rain for today. Don’t go anywhere without that umbrella, rain poncho or rain boots. The today is right at seventy degrees but don’t let that fool you. By tonight our temps will drop to freezing. Thirty two degrees is the forecasted low for tonight. Don’t forget to protect your plants and pets. Colder for the rest of the week with a string of night time temps in thirties. Winter is still here. We are looking at a very windy day tomorrow but only a slight chance of rain. More showers though later in the week. The way this week is shaping up weather wise it looks like I will be doing alot of writing inside. I am not a big fan of the cold and wet. Have a good day. I’ll see you in NOLA!

New Orleans’ Best Cocktails: The Mint Julep
New Orleans’ Best Cocktails: The Mint Julep
With mixolgist Chris McMillian
This is a favorite during the hot summer days in New Orleans. The drink’s popularity came to rest in the agricultural regions of the east and southeast, where farmers awakened at dawn. McMillian says the julep was originally a morning drink as the spirited equivalent of coffee in today’s New Orleans society. “One sip and Pow! The farmers were ready to face the long day.”
The main ingredient of the New Orleans Mint Julep is Bourbon Whiskey. “The biggest change for the julep was the addition of American whiskey to the recipe,” says McMillian. “The julep was quickly transformed into a mixture of water, sugar, mint leaves, and good American whiskey.”
To make a New Orleans Mint Julep, you must have simple syrup, (either purchased or made by boiling equal parts sugar and water together for five minutes). Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, muddling the mint leaves, adding one tablespoon of simple syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whiskey. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
Enjoy this refreshing drink which is one of New Orleans’ Best Cocktails: The Mint Julep.
